About
Escape to a rejuvenating oasis at Natal Spa Hot Springs & Leisure Resort, situated on the road between Vryheid and Paulpietersburg on the Battlefields Route.
Set on 800 hectares of KwaZulu-Natal bushveld, the Resort has access to approximately four kilometers of the Bivane River flowing through the property.
Famous for its serene location and the natural healing properties of the hot pools: at a source temperature of 37°C, the pools discovered in 1880, provide a constant supply of beneficial waters for guests and are well known for their anti-oxidant properties. Claims made by Alkaline Springs, in Europe, is that the South African Medicinal Springs are superior in mineral content, temperature and other essential elements.
Although the main attraction on the Resort is of course the hot mineral pools, another popular attraction is the great 110m long supertube.
For the active there are quad bike trails, squash, tennis, hiking, birding trails, mountain bike trails and fishing. Indoor, relax with some snooker or table tennis.
Highlights in the hotel include an airy dining room and terrace with lovely views of the garden and pool areas, among others. Buffet breakfasts and dinners or a'la carte dinners are on offer. Light meals are available from The Bistro, including snack platters, teas and scones, whilst the Raptors Restaurant bar is open from 10am until late which is a welcoming respite where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks. The Boulders Bar alongside the heated pools also offers another venue to meet up.
The accommodation throughout the Resort is tastefully decorated and each room has tea/coffee making facilities and TV, offering 11 Hotel Bouquet DSTV channels.
Set amongst giant Cambrian granite boulders that are millions of years old, and with abundant birdlife, the Resort is also an idyllic and beautiful setting for wedding receptions and conferences. Three well-equipped conference rooms, which can accommodate between 10 - 120 delegates, are available.
The Wellness Centre & Beauty Spa are also popular attractions on the Resort and offer guests revitalising and pampering massages and treatments to indulge in.

The Natal Spa Hot Springs & Leisure Resort along the intriguing Battlefields Route makes for the perfect family getaway - and 23self catering units make sure that this great destination won’t break the bank!
Described as the perfect escape from the stresses and strains of modern life, the Natal Spa Hot Springs & Leisure Resort is located in 800 acres of KZN bushveld with beautiful views over the Bivane River. However, while the picturesque setting, abundant birdlife and peaceful surrounds are great for soothing the soul, the greatest attraction for young and old is the seven revitalising hot pools.
The invigorating and healing qualities of these hot mineral waters have been known for centuries. They have a temperature, at source, of 40 degrees C and are known as "Triple Waters" because they contain carbonates, chlorides and sulphates with unique anti-oxidant properties.
For the more adventurous, there’s quad bike, hiking, birding and mountain bike trails, fishing,horse riding, tennis and squash. An escape into the past and the Battlefields takes guests to the Ntombe Battlefield, Egode River Monument, Kruger Bridge, the Village of Luneburg and Fort Clery.
Accommadtion includes 20, 4-sleeper and three 6-sleeper self catering units. The open plan (studio style) smaller units comprise a double bed and either a bunk bed or a sleeper couch, making them perfect for a young family. The kitchen has all the necessities including a fridge/freezer, microwave, two-plate stove with oven and all the cutlery and crockery needed for four. Bed Linen and Bath Towels are provided. Each unit has a balcony overlooking the gardens and an en suite bathroom with either a bath or a shower. There is a communal braai area in front of the units.
The larger, 6-sleeper units are great for larger families, older children or even groups of friends. They have two bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with a bunk bed – and a sleeper couch in the lounge. The kitchen area has all the necessitiesincluding a fridge/freezer, microwave, two-plate stove with oven and all the crockery and cutlery needed for six. Bed Linen and Bath Towels are provided. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower. Each unit has its own patio with a picnic table and braai.

Directions from Durban
From Durban travel along the North Coast.
Take the Eshowe and travel towards Melmoth.
From Melmoth travel to Vryheid.
When entering Vryheid, at the first four way stop: turn right into South Street.
Follow the road over the 4-way robot for +/- 3km.
Turn left at the signboard “Paulpietersburg.”
You will immediately drive over a railway bridge.
Follow this road until you get to a T-junction.
Turn left at this T-junction.
Follow the road for +/- 20km.
Turn right at signboard saying Natal Spa.
Follow the road to the entrance, gates to Natal Spa are on the right-hand side.
The journey takes approximately three and a half hours.
Directions from Johannesburg
From Jo’burg take N4 Witbank Highway.
Drive past the Shell Ultra City and take the Middelburg/Hendrina off ramp.
Turn right at the T- junction and follow the signs to Hendrina.
Drive straight through Hendrina and follow the signs to Ermelo.
Drive through Ermelo and at the last robot turn left and follow signs to Piet Retief.
Drive straight through Piet Retief +/- 1 and a half to 2km outside Piet Retief turn right to Paulpietersburg.
At the second stop street in Paulpietersburg turn left.
Drive straight through Paulpietersburg and keep going straight for 14km.
Turn left at signpost saying Natal Spa.
Follow the road to the entrance; gates to Natal Spa are on the left-hand side.
The journey takes approximately 4 hours.
OR
From Jo’burg take the N17 highway, passing the following places: Springs, Leandra and Bethal.
Drive through Ermelo to Piet Retief.
Drive straight through Piet Retief, +/- 1 and a half to 2km outside Piet Retief turn right to Paulspietersburg.
At the second stop street in Paulpietersburg turn left.
Drive straight through Paulpietersburg and keep going for 14km turn left at the signpost saying Natal Spa.
Follow the road to the entrance; gates to Natal Spa are the left hand side.
